Pharmacy verification
Compounding Pharmacy Verification Center
Who actually makes the medicine, under which registration, and how to check that yourself before you order.
Compounded medicines are prepared by pharmacies registered under section 503A or by outsourcing facilities registered under 503B, which are regulated differently. This centre explains what each registration means, what accreditation does and does not certify, and how to check a licence with the issuing board yourself.

| Step | Stage | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Get the name | A provider that will not name the pharmacy has answered your question. |
| 2 | Identify the registration class | 503A pharmacy or 503B outsourcing facility. They differ materially. |
| 3 | Check the state board licence | The board's own lookup, and confirm it is active. |
| 4 | Check FDA registration if 503B | The agency publishes the registered outsourcing facility list. |
| 5 | Ask about testing | Who tested it, for what, and can you see the certificate. |
| Claim | What it proves | What it does not prove |
|---|---|---|
| FDA-registered facility | The facility filed a registration | That any product is FDA-approved |
| PCAB accredited | A voluntary accreditation was granted | Batch quality or FDA approval |
| Licensed pharmacy | A state board issued a licence | That the licence is current — check it |
| Third-party tested | Something was tested | What was tested, or by whom, unless shown |
| USP <797> compliant | A sterile compounding standard is claimed | That it was independently audited |
| FDA-approved compounded medication | Nothing — no such category exists | Treat this claim as a red flag |
