The short version

This site is a static publication. It has no accounts, no logins, no comment system, no analytics and no advertising network. We never ask for your health information or your payment details, and there is nothing here to buy.

Two things changed on 24 July 2026 and this policy changed with them. We added a newsletter form, so we now ask for an email address if — and only if — you choose to give one. And we added a bar at the foot of the page featuring a provider; if you dismiss it, we set a single session flag so it stays dismissed. Both are described in full below.

What we store on your device

One item, conditionally. If you dismiss the provider bar at the foot of the page, we set a single sessionStorage flag so it stays closed for the rest of your visit. It holds no identifier, it is cleared when you close the tab, and it is never transmitted anywhere.

Nothing else. No cookies, no analytics, no advertising pixels, no fingerprinting, no third-party scripts. You can confirm all of that in your browser’s network and storage inspectors while using the site — which is a better assurance than this paragraph.

The newsletter

If you submit the form, we receive your email address and nothing else. It posts to our own endpoint; no third-party marketing script loads on any page of this site. We use it to send the weekly brief, we never sell or share it, and every email carries a one-click unsubscribe. If you never submit the form we never have it.

What the calculators do with your numbers

Every calculator on this site runs entirely in your browser. The figures you type into the cost calculator, the BMI calculator or the weight-loss percentage calculator are never transmitted to us, never stored, and never written to your device. Close the tab and they are gone. You can verify this: open your browser's network inspector and use any tool on the site. No request leaves the page.

We designed the tools this way deliberately. A publication covering weight-management medicine has no business collecting readers' body weights.

What our host records

The site is served through a content delivery network. Like any web server, it processes the technical information your browser sends in order to deliver a page: an IP address, the requested URL, a timestamp, a user-agent string and a referring page. This is standard server operation and is retained by our hosting provider under their own retention schedule. We do not combine it with anything else, do not attempt to identify individuals from it, and do not sell or share it.

Third-party requests

Pages currently load one external resource: a web-font stylesheet. Your browser therefore contacts that font provider when you load a page, which reveals your IP address to them in the ordinary course of serving the file. We are working to self-host the fonts and remove this request entirely.

Outbound links to providers carry campaign parameters so we can see which of our pages send traffic where. Following such a link takes you to a third party whose privacy practices are their own, not ours. We receive nothing back from those providers and have no commercial relationship with any of them.

Cookies

We set none. There is no consent banner on this site because there is nothing to consent to.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or port personal information a business holds about you, and to object to certain processing. In our case the honest answer is that we hold none, so there is nothing to disclose, correct or delete. If you believe otherwise, write to us and we will investigate and respond.

Children

This publication is written for adults and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone.

Changes

If this policy changes materially — for instance if we add analytics — the change will be dated here and recorded in our public changelog before it takes effect, not quietly afterwards.

Before publish — legal review
  • This template ships without operative legal text on purpose. Counsel licensed in the operating jurisdiction must draft the privacy policy, terms of use and medical disclaimer.
  • Privacy policy must state, specifically: what is collected, the legal basis, retention periods, processors, and the state-law rights available to readers.
  • Confirm that no tool on this site collects diagnosis, symptom or treatment data. If any tool ever does, it needs a privacy and security review before launch, not after.
  • Medical disclaimer must state that the site is educational, is not a clinician, does not recommend a medication or a dose, and that compounded medicines are not FDA-approved products.
